Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has been a key analytical tool for us, and the software used for design simulations was ANSYS FLUENT.

In the initial concept phase a full turbocharger model was developed for both compressible and incompressible flow conditions.

For the selection of a final guide vane profile a wind tunnel style model was created using pressure and temperature conditions for the turbocharger. The results for these tests were analysed to obtain optimal internal flow conditions for the final design.
